Higgins, President Mary McAleese and the Australian ambassador, and was visual arts co-ordinator of Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival from 2010 to 2014.  Greene has taught painting within the community and from her own studio, since 2005, and  produced a range of silk scarves for the home and export market since 1995. In 2014 she was a finalist in the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards, and has been nominated again this year.

Hazel Greene trained in the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design (1994-98) and studied textile design in West Dean College, England (2014). She has studied painting under Una Sealy, Mick O’Dea, and Joe Dunne. She has shown work in exhibitions curated by Peter Prendergast, Claudia Woolgar and Martina Finn. Her work has been commissioned by the National Stud and Japanese Gardens, County Kildare; Nazareth House, County Sligo; and Newgrange Lodge, County Meath, and presented to President Michael D.
